Ministries
Living The Mission
Our ministries are where faith meets action. Rooted in God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit, each one exists to serve, disciple, and transform lives—inside the church and beyond.
Altar and Follow Up Ministry
The Altar and Follow-Up Ministry consists of dedicated individuals committed to reaching out to newcomers and those who have made faith decisions. The mission of this ministry is to foster involvement in the church community, guide individuals toward Christ, and offer support throughout their spiritual journey. This is primarily accomplished through phone calls, emails, and personal interactions, with the aim of building meaningful relationships and encouraging ongoing participation in church life.
Care Group Ministry
In our inaugural year of 1984, the church launched the Care Group Ministry, an "in-home" fellowship designed to nurture the spiritual growth of congregants. Today, this ministry organizes members into small groups that meet in homes or virtually, guided by a mature leader or couple. The focus is on Bible study, group discussions, and showing love and care for one another through both spiritual and everyday experiences. Inspired by Isaiah 61:1-3, the vision of the Care Group Ministry aligns with the church’s mission.
Children’s Church Ministry
Children Church Motto - Phillippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" The Children’s Church Ministry's main purpose is to provide children with the tools they need to become lifelong disciples of Christ and to make disciples of others throughout their lifetime. This is done through the teaching of the Word and fun activities.
Covenant Keepers Ministry (Couples)
The Covenant Keepers: To Have and To Hold Ministry, is dedicated to strengthen and promote the health and well-being of married couples, through retreats, workshops, regular meetings and social activities. The ministry’s aim is to enhance the spiritual, social, emotional, and economic well-being of couples, showcasing God's kingdom in action. "And the Lord answered me: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it." (Habakkuk 2:2, ESV) Through Christ, we work to revitalize God’s perfect plan for nurturing lasting, healthy marriages.
Discipling The Lambs
Discipling the Lambs programme was developed to strengthen a culture of care, accountability and spiritual maturity. It serves individuals eager to commit their lives to the Lord, new converts, and those seeking membership. The programme was commissioned by Matthew 28:19 to 'go and make disciples of all nations'. Jesus was intentional when he told Peter to feed His lambs and His sheep (John 21:15-17).The ministry works in tandem with the Altar ministry, Follow up and Baptism Ministry to ensure all those who come into COTR encounter a warm welcome and come into fellowship with the wider body.
Evangelism
The Vision of Church On The Rock in Isaiah 61:1-3 is directly aligned with the good news of the Gospel. Evangelism is therefore at the heart of God's mandate for this church. Our Lord Jesus Christ commanded in Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." In obedience to this, the Evangelism Ministry seeks to carry the Gospel into the world, that whoever believes and is baptised will be saved. The ministry currently engages in personal witnessing and door-to-door evangelism in the surrounding communities, and conducts devotions in schools.
Flower Circle
The Flower Circle ministry utilises their anointed talents and creativity to beautify the sanctuary for the honour and glory of our God and to help to enhance the atmosphere of praise and worship of the Lord through the arranged flora and fauna from our island. It is our belief that in keeping with the vision of Church on the Rock in Isaiah 61, we can enhance the atmosphere of any event such as weddings, funerals, conferences and outreach activities.
Healing and Deliverance
COTR’s Healing and Deliverance Ministry caters to the mandate of Isaiah 61:1-3; setting the captives free and healing the broken-hearted. It is where souls come to be repaired, restored and rejuvenated by the Lord Jesus Christ. This ministry provides a place for restoration through Jesus Christ, offering the healing touch of Jehovah Rapha - “The Lord who heals” and Jehovah Mekaddishkem - "the Lord who sanctifies you." . This ministry teaches and equips the body with tools, to not only walk out but to also maintain their deliverance.
Hospitality and Usher Ministry
The vision of the ministry is grounded in Ephesians 6 verses 6 & 7, which states that not with eyeservice, as men pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill, doing service as to the Lord and not to men. We warmly welcome and serve every individual with a servant's heart, reflecting God’s love.
Judah Revolution (Young Adult Ministry)
We are building up a generation of believers (ages 20-39 years old) filled with adoration and honour unto the Lord and who will encounter the presence of God through worship and intimacy, by stirring up this generation’s giftings. We aim to empower them to be better Christians and people in general. Producing disciples to serve and love in this generation.
Men Of Purpose
Men of Purpose is a ministry dedicated to empowering and equipping men to fulfill their God-given potential. The ministry focuses on providing a supportive community for men to connect with one another, grow spiritually, and develop their leadership skills.
Music Ministry
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation” - Psalm 95:1 The Music Ministry at Church On The Rock, Kingston, endeavours to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music and song. We aim, through the help of the Holy Spirit and by the guidance of our leaders, to encourage our fellow congregants in their spiritual journey and also provide a way for our members to embrace and share their gifts and be an integral part of the worship experience. In everything we give thanks to God as we give praise and thanksgiving to Him in one voice, one sound.
Open Hands
Fueled by the vision of the church, through love, compassion and a sincere heart for the downtrodden, the ministry to those in need was established at Church on the Rock. The name “Open Hands” is derived from Deuteronomy 15:11 “...I command you…open your hands wide…to your poor and needy…” The Open Hands Ministry actively helps the vulnerable, helping senior citizens, the physically challenged, and students in any way we can. Counselling, mentoring and back-to-school assistance is provided to those in need whether adults or youth, members and non-members alike.
Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Ministry is dedicated to interceding for COTR, aiming to establish it as a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:7). We pray for the leadership, members, and future generations, and for souls to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Prophetic Voices
Inspired by Pastor Dianne, the Prophetic Voices ministry offers members opportunities for prophetic activations. Prophetic activations are spiritual exercises which use words, songs and actions, that trigger the prophetic gifts. A crucial element of the activation consists of teachings, which provide guidelines for operating in the prophetic gifts. Selected individuals, having been activated, are allowed the freedom to prophesy in a safe environment, wherein the gifts are allowed to flow and persons develop their strengths in ministering in the prophetic.
Rock Campus Connexion
"Connecting to Christ and the Great Commission throughout College" The Rock Campus Connexion is the outreach ministry of Church On The Rock on the university campus. The ministry is designed to encourage, support and challenge students to maintain their Christian witness on campus. Weekly interactive sessions are held on a designated university campus for students of UWI Mona and UTECH. In doing so, the students are connected to a caring church community.
Rock Linkup (Rock Teenz)
The mission of the ministry is to win the lost, connect them to Jesus, train them up in sound doctrine and send them into the world to 'make disciples who will make other disciples'. The ministry's goal is to raise up teenagers and young adults who are committed to the process of making disciples, whilst living lives that boldly declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, at work, at school, in their families and communities.
Rock Dancers
The Dance Ministry (Rock Dancers) began in 1985, thirty-nine (39) years ago, under the leadership of Dr. Sherrill Chong. At that time, dance was not yet accepted as an expression of worship in the church. Today it is a vital part of our worship services. Since 1985, many churches have incorporated the ministry of dance in their services. Since the ministry's inception and, over generations, the Rock Dancers have grown in grace and maturity for the glory of God. The ministry stands behind the belief that worship isn't something we put on a costume to do; it is their way of life. "Dancing is what we do and this powerful thing called dance has the power to change lives when the vessel being used is fully given to obeying God."
Social Media and Audio/Visual
Connecting COTR with the community, nation, region and world through the use of social media to broadcast, share, encourage and remind the people of the goodness of God, by sharing the various services and events at Church On The Rock each week through the YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok platforms.
